LIMIT 'UNLIMITED' STATE, LOCAL AND ROCKY RIVER  GOVERNMENT!

Dear Rocky River Resident,

MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED (100+) ‘LOCAL’ REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS MET TO PREPARE TO DEFEAT AN ‘OHIO CITIZEN INITIATIVE’.  WHEN PASSED, WILL LIMIT GOVERNMENT SPENDING, TAXES AND SURPLUS!  (In “GOP, Dems agree they disagree.  Both sides oppose spending-limit plan”.  Plain Dealer 3-23-2006.)

I support this Ohio Constitutional Amendment that’s on the November 2006 Ballot.  That also limits Rocky River City Government Spending, Taxation and Surplus as well.

Below are ‘points’ given against this issue - as reported in the article.   My ‘counterpoints’ for this issue are added.

  1. POINT: Yet John Mahoney, deputy director of the Ohio Municipal League stands tall against this citizen initiative.  He’s reported calling it a, “nexus of evil.” MY COUNTERPOINT: Come on Mr. Mahoney, limiting government from spending our tax money will limit my taxes - and save me money.   That’s good – not evil!

  1. POINT: Bay Village Mayor Debbie Sutherland also opposes ‘this initiative’ for limited government.  She’s reported calling the wording of this State of Ohio Amendment,  “… a sloppy, hastily considered constitutional amendment …”  MY COUNTERPOINT: Mayor Sutherland, the petition’s wording was approved by Ohio Attorney General ‘Jim Petro’s’ Office - before it circulated as a ‘State of Ohio Citizen Initiative’.   Apparently it’s legal!

  1. POINT: Mayor Sutherland is also reported giving an ‘apocalyptic prediction’ for the State of Ohio if this issue passes, “… will turn Ohio into a regressive, backwater state,” MY COUNTERPOINT:  Mayor Sutherland, Ohio needs new ideas to help Ohio.  Not criticism of Ken Blackwell, a candidate for Ohio Governor – whose idea it was to put this issue on the Ohio Ballot.  Why did he do it?  To help Ohio!

In closing, when ‘limiting Ohio government’ passes.   Ohio Politicians will spend government money - like they spend their money at home - carefully, conservatively and responsibly.

Ohio taxpayers will then keep their money in their pockets!  Not in government coffers!
