ROCKY RIVER CITY COUNCIL DO YOU
SUPPORT FREE SPEECH?
To: Rocky River
City School District, Rocky River City
Government, Rocky River Business Community and
Fellow Residents,
“People of Rocky River want to
prevent misconstruction and abuse of our civil rights by Rocky
River’s municipal powers.”
(Fred
Sokol quote given: @ Rocky River City Council 10-28-2002)
Monday – September 25, 2006. ‘Elected and Appointed Rocky River
council members’ did not put my two (2) letters - I
previously requested - onto the public record for the September
11, 2006 council meeting.
What I plan to do about
it and why … please read on.
My said letters were sent earlier to Mr. Brian Hagan,
Council President – on Monday September 5, 2006 - requesting
public financial record from Rocky River City Government.
·
see letter one
·
see letter two
Why didn’t
council put my two
(2) letters - in their public record for the September 11, 2006
council meeting?
Don’t
we have Free Speech in Rocky River?
AS A
ROCKY RIVER CITIZEN AND A NON-ATTORNEY I ASK. “Rocky River
City Council, don’t you support ‘free speech’, and understand
that the Rocky River Charter, the U.S. Constitution and the
State of Ohio Constitution support “Free Speech” for Rocky River
citizens?
THE
ROCKY RIVER CITY CHARTER:
ARTICLE
I - MUNICIPAL POWERS “The City of Rocky River shall have all the
powers of local self government which may now or hereafter
lawfully be granted to a municipal corporation under the
Constitution and laws of the State of Ohio.”
DO YOU
UNDERSTAND that last statement - elected and appointed Rocky
River city government officials? It says, “ … The
City of Rocky River shall have all the powers of local self
government which may now or hereafter lawfully be granted to a
municipal corporation under the Constitution and laws of the
State of Ohio!”
WHAT
ARE THOSE LAWS
that the United States Constitution and the State of Ohio
Constitution hold our ‘elected and appointed officials’ to?
When it comes to “The Freedom of Speech” for all Rocky River
residents?
THE
FIRST (BILL OF RIGHTS) AMENDMENT
TO THE UNITED STATES
CONSTITUTION:
Which
Partially Reads … “Congress shall make no law
… abridging the
freedom of speech,”
ALSO ...
ARTICLE 1 SECTION 11 OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS -
TO THE STATE OF
OHIO CONSTITUTION:
§ 1.11
Freedom of speech;
of the press; of libels (1851)
“Every
citizen may freely speak, write, and publish his sentiments on
all subjects … and no law shall be passed to restrain or abridge
the liberty of speech, or of the press.”
NOW I ASK YOU, ‘ELECTED AND APPOINTED’ ROCKY RIVER CITY
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.
IN MY OPINION
ROCKY RIVER CITY COUNCIL HAS STEPPED IN ANOTHER ‘COW PIE’. WHAT
WILL I DO ABOUT IT?
-
I will
propose a ‘charter addition’ establishing a ‘Rocky River
Department of Citizen Rights’. It will be
independently formed and
operated by the local, legal and business community - to
inform, defend and protect Rocky River citizen’s rights,
under our U.S. Bill of Rights - through appropriate action.
-
Finally, the voters and
those who will politically run next year, will define you and campaign
against you for your elected positions - in next year’s 2007
Rocky River Municipal Election. They will surely hold you
accountable. Why?
“SQUELCHING
FREEDOM OF SPEECH” IS A VERY STRONG ISSUE FOR AMERICANS,
ESPECIALLY …
I still can’t believe what
Rocky River city council did on Monday, September 25, 2006.
Bad political move!
