Dear Fellow Resident,

My ‘ground campaign’ for Fred Sokol for Mayor of Rocky River 2007 begins on the first day of Fall Saturday September 22nd.

·          My ground campaign will be about distributing a ‘campaign flyer’ that ‘others do not want you to read’.   My flyer will lay out the who, what, when, where and why residents need to elect Fred Sokol as the new Mayor for Rocky River Tuesday November 6th, 2007.  The following is how my campaign flyer and the information that others do not want you to see is laid out.

INTRODUCTION:

·         My ‘short statement’ at the top of my flyer tells voters (1.) what is wrong with Rocky River, (2.) how I will fix it as Mayor (3.) and what kind of a person I am in just five words.

  • I say I want to ‘stop abortion’ in my opening statement … which already has been attacked by one of my mayoral opponents … as my opponent calls it ‘inflammatory’.

  • I know what residents want and they have told me that they want abortion to stop in Rocky River.  Since 1993 I have gone door to door in Rocky River putting three (3) Rocky River charter amendments to city wide elections.  I ran for council-at-large city wide and have run for mayor of Rocky River in 2005.   I debated two (2) of Rocky River’s ‘past mayors’ while ‘another past mayor’ refused to even debate with me.

  • I think residents and I, have a better idea of what residents want ‘city wide’ than my opponent.

OPENING STATEMENT:

  • I talk about the failing state of the city, its ‘estimated population’ dropping and who should be held accountable for this failure … and how as Mayor I will turn Rocky River around to benefit residents and businesses.

  • The struggle for the survival of Rocky River is real and I assure residents as Mayor I have a plan to make River better.

FAILED POLICY OF ROCKY RIVER CITY GOVERNMENT:

  • I point out ‘specific instances’ where in my opinion Rocky River city government has failed residents and businesses and caused our city to slide – as Mayor I’ll reverse that.

  • Perhaps you aren’t aware of Rocky River’s lost population, empty homes, empty businesses, empty office space dotting Rocky River, coupled with a Rocky River City Government that is out of control and disconnected from residents?  It’s the ‘Rocky River Republican Party’s’ complete domination of Rocky River City Hall for decades that should now be held accountable.  Time for a change?

MY SOLUTIONS:

  • My ‘thirteen (13) point correction’ for Rocky River’s BAD city government and slipping city … and my promise to carry out these corrections to benefit both residents, businesses and our city.  It’s your choice in November to make!

  • Through the past 23 years as an advocate for citizens and community has made me aware of the problems that residents and businesses have in Rocky River … and the solutions to those concerns and problems of residents and businesses in Rocky River as well.

  • Once you read my thirteen (13) point ‘contract with residents’ you will see thought and planning has been put into this ‘contract’ for residents and businesses.   All you have to do is vote for me for Rocky River Mayor on November 6, 2007 to have this contract fulfilled.

MY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • My experience as a citizen and community advocate and what I accomplished both in Rocky River and in another city are ‘listed briefly’ in this section of my flyer.  (I would have to write a book to list all I have done in Rocky River and in other cities as an advocate for both citizens and communities.)

  • Residents will also know why they have the community that they have in Rocky River and how residents not city hall have made it so!

AWARD AND RECOGNITION ‘I RECEIVED’ FOR PUBLIC SERVICE:

·          This section of my flyer is to tell you of my recent nomination, award and recognition for 25 years of public service with the Cuyahoga County Probate Court.

·          First the Honorable Cuyahoga County Probate Judge John J. Donnelly who I work for nominated me for said award.

·          Next I received the award and recognition from the Cuyahoga County Community and in other levels of government for my public service.

·          Residents will see me as a public servant not a politician.

PERSONAL:

·          In this section of my flyer I list my personal background, my family, my dogs, how long I lived in Rocky River, what community I moved from, things I enjoy doing both with my family and with the public and I list the only two (2) jobs I worked at … for my whole life.

·          Residents will see me as a steady, compassionate, loving family man, an advocate for those who need help, and a working class person … just like many residents in Rocky River.

IN CLOSING:

·          We look out for ourselves, our family, and others … and take on our city government if we have to in our own way and why not?  We invest in our homes why not invest in our city too – by being and acting like concerned citizens in Rocky River?

·          Since my family and I moved to Rocky River in January of 1991 I have paid taxes ‘as well as you’ to help upkeep this city and the city school system.

·          Of course I am concerned and will act appropriately whenever I see those that we elect to run our city veer off course on duties that I feel I did not elect them to do or that they have failed to do.

·          This flyer is my attempt to show you my concerns and my way of resolving those concerns for my city.

FINAL STATEMENT:

·         Fellow residents, I look forward to being your mayor and your ‘working class and dedicated public servant’ on Tuesday November 6, 2007.
