ROCKY RIVER’S NEW STATUS QUO!

To: Rocky River City School District, Rocky River City Government, Rocky River Business Community and Fellow Residents,

“Sokol said he’s approached Rocky River several times, asking the city to cut its spending.  “They haven’t,” he said.  “They’ve only increased it.”  (Taken From – “Resident again embarks on ballot question campaign”, West Life - August 16, 2006)

I also say Rocky River’s ‘Old Status Quo’ needs an 'attitude makeover' toward city issues.   Why?

1.      Where is Rocky River’s ‘status quo’ (the movers and shakers in Rocky River) on Rocky River city government’s increased financial spending?

2.      I have not heard the ‘old status quo’ in public – challenge, question, nor demand accountability from Rocky River city government in its financial actions.

3.      Why aren’t they brave enough to speak up?

4.      It appears Rocky River’s ‘old status quo’ - just wants to keep things the way they are.

“I would like to see a new status quo take place in Rocky River,” Sokol said.” (Taken From – “Resident again embarks on ballot question campaign”, West Life - August 16, 2006)

·          A Rocky River ‘charter addition’ to limit Rocky River city government spending, surplus and taxes when passed: (1) will limit city finances (2) and create a ‘new status quo’ in Rocky River to oversee and approve the city financial limitations.  (see proposal)

ROCKY RIVER’S ‘NEW STATUS QUO’ WHAT WILL IT BRING?

IT’S MEMBERS!

  • (1) Rocky River residents will be Rocky River’s ‘New Status Quo’.  (2) The ‘old status quo’ will be abolished.  (3) Rocky River’s ‘New Status Quo’ will publicly – challenge, question and demand accountability from Rocky River city government in its financial actions.  (4) The ‘old status quo’ has been found wanting.  (5) It’s the ‘New Status Quo’s’ turn for control.

HOW MEMBERS BENEFIT!

  • (1) Rocky River’s ‘New Status Quo’ will benefit residents by putting money back into the taxpayer’s pocket.  How? (2) Residents will have control of Rocky River city government money and our destiny – thus residents will have control on how they are taxed.  (3) Tax Money will also be re-directed back to residents and businesses.  (4) Taxpayers will keep more money for themselves, families and their businesses.  (5)  Rocky River will prosper with less tax money spent.  Why?  Any additional spending and taxes will be accountable to: and approved by: the people – not by a select few.  (6)  Shouldn’t residents and businesses have tax money put back in their pockets?  (7) Isn’t ‘economic growth’ more important for residents and businesses – than Rocky River city government?  I think so! (8) The above statements are not from Economics 101.  Those statements come from ‘common sense’.

 WHO IS LEFT OUT?

  • (1) Rocky River city government will be left out of the ‘new status quo’.  (2) Their relentless spending, tax, and surplus will be limited as well.  (3) Rocky River city government will be put on a short financial leash.

HOW WILL ROCKY RIVER’S NEW STATUS QUO BE CREATED?

  • (1) A ‘New Status Quo’ in Rocky River will emerge.  Once Rocky River city government’s spending, surplus and taxes are limited – by passage by voters - of a ‘proposed’ Rocky River charter addition that is seeking to be placed on the November 6th 2007 Rocky River Municipal Ballot. (2)  Rocky River residents ‘The New Status Quo’ will then challenge, question, get answers and make their ‘appointed and elected Rocky River city government officials’ accountable, answerable and financially conservative. (3) When residents ‘limit Rocky River city government spending, surplus and taxes’ – Rocky River taxpayers will control Rocky River’s money – and have more money in their pockets.

IN CLOSING:

(1) A ‘New Status Quo’ of Rocky River residents that are more aware, involved and willing - (2) to challenge our city government to be more accountable and answerable on its finances - (3) is the ‘Wind of Change’ I hear blowing.
