FRED SOKOL TO MS. PAM BOBST - MAYOR - ROCKY RIVER: "LET'S DEBATE!"

To: Rocky River City School District, Rocky River City Government, Rocky River Business Community and Fellow Residents,

December 16, 2006

MS. PAM BOBST - MAYOR - ROCKY RIVER,

Mayor Pam Bobst, Let’s Debate!  What Needs To Be Said?  Also, Where and When?

  1. It’s time for you Ms. Bobst, to tell everyone (at a public debate of your choosing) about Rocky River’s possible ‘income tax sharing’ and ‘regional cooperation’ with Cleveland and Cuyahoga County suburbs – and where you stand on this issue.

  1. Mayor Frank G. Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio sent you, Ms. Bobst a letter dated November 10, 2006 that said, "The City of Cleveland is asking that you consider ... the principles of ... income tax sharing and regional cooperation in revitalizing our economy."  Our 'Regional Elected Officials' need to take up this cause.  Not our 'Local Elected Officials'.

  1. I Will Propose: To ‘Regional Elected Officials’ such as our U.S. Congressional Members, U.S. Senators, State Representatives, State Senators and State Governor that serve Northeast Ohio - to lead us out of our ‘failing financial region’.  Not local elected officials.

  1. I Will Also Say: “‘Income Tax Sharing' and 'Regional Cooperation' is not in the best interest of Rocky River and Rocky River taxpayers.  If ‘said issues’ are approved.  It will bring More Tax, More Government, Less Freedom to Rocky River residents.”

  1. I Will Finally Argue: “Rocky River voters should decide ‘income tax sharing’ and ‘regional cooperation’ with Cleveland and Cuyahoga County’s suburbs.  Not by a band of - local city officials.”

IN MY OPINION:

  • Ms. Bobst do you want to joust at windmills with Cleveland and the Cuyahoga County suburbs to raise them all from the - financial dead?  A local mayor cannot do it and especially not on Rocky River’s payroll, Ms. Bobst.

  • Ms. Bobst, what is most important to a Rocky River official such as your self?  (A) Is it to build up Rocky River?  (B) Or is it to ‘joust at windmills’ and try to ‘financially build up’ the Cleveland/Cuyahoga County Megalopolis?

  • My Answer to That Question?  Charity Begins At Home, Ms. Bobst!

WHERE AND WHEN, SHOULD THIS DEBATE TAKE PLACE:

  • Ms. Bobst, you may pick the time and the place for the debate.  Let me suggest The Rocky River Memorial Hall in January, 2007.

IN CLOSING:

·     Let Voters Decide Issue.  I see this important issue discussed at council meetings with only a vote of council sealing the deal with Cleveland and Cuyahoga County’s suburbs.  That is why there must be ‘public debate and public consensus’, on this said matter.  Rocky River city officials should not make this decision.  Of, By, and For the People Should!

·    Please contact me by phone at 440-521-5452 or write me at scrdhrt2@cox.net to confirm your desire to debate on this issue.  Debate me now, or debate me later Ms. Bobst.  Thank You.
