WE NEED - LEADERSHIP AND VISION - IN ROCKY RIVER!

To: Rocky River City School District, Rocky River City Government, Rocky River Business Community and Fellow Residents,

I will supply ‘Leadership and Vision’ to Rocky River city government to benefit residents and Rocky River businesses.  Why?

  • Failed Leadership, Homes Foreclosed and People Moving out of Rocky River.

  • Rocky River City Government Officials continue to spend, sit, talk, form committees, and do more studies on city issues and never come to conclusions on city issues – while the world passes our city by.

  • Tuesday January 16th, Rocky River City Council were made aware of three (3) very important 'city issues'.   If resolved, would have benefited Residents and Rocky River Businesses.  Yet council and administration left ‘the three (3) pressing city issues’ unresolved and on the back burner.

They are …

  1. ‘HOUSING MARKET’ IS COOLING OFF IN ROCKY RIVER!

    • I SAY, “FIX IT!”

  1. ROCKY RIVER BUSINESSES ARE NOW PROHIBITED TO USE ‘FREE STANDING COMMERCIAL SIGNS’!  TO PROMOTE THEIR BUSINESSES.

    • I SAY, “REPEAL THIS BAD CITY LAW!”

  1. A ROCKY RIVER RAILROAD QUIET/SAFETY ZONE AND A REGIONAL COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE TO AID ROCKY RIVER’S ECONOMY.  IS SITTING ON THE BACK BURNER AT ROCKY RIVER CITY HALL!

    • I SAY, (1.) ‘SET AN IMMEDIATE CITY GOAL’ TO UTILIZE ROCKY RIVER’S MOST ‘VITAL ECONOMIC ASSET’ IT’S RAIL LINE (2.) AND IMPLEMENT THESE IMPORTANT ‘RAIL LINE ISSUES’ FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE CITY!

Consider those city issues and what I would do to correct them.

  1. ‘THE HOUSING MARKET’ IS COOLING OFF IN ROCKY RIVER!  I SAY, “FIX IT.”

  • It was mentioned at council on Tuesday, January 16th that the housing market is cooling off!   Yet city officials didn’t seem to discuss the issue.

  • I already see residents losing their homes to foreclosure and residents moving out of our city.

  • Right now there is a ‘new housing construction glut’ taking place in Rocky River.  What guarantees does council and the administration have for these new homes selling as our housing market cools?

  • Elected city official leadership and visionaries already spent millions of our taxpayer dollars to build rec centers and swimming pools to get people to move to Rock River.  It did not work!

  • My solution?  ‘Less Tax’ for residents will encourage home owners to come/purchase homes/stay in Rocky River and will solve Rocky River’s housing problem.  That’s Economics 101!  That’s Leadership and Vision!

  1. ROCKY RIVER BUSINESSES ARE ‘NOW PROHIBITED’ TO USE ‘FREE STANDING COMMERCIAL SIGNS’!  TO PROMOTE THEIR BUSINESSES.  I SAY, “REPEAL THIS BAD CITY LAW!”

  • Recently, Rocky River city government sent out a letter to the Rocky River business community.  That city government will enforce a law that ‘prohibits free standing commercial signs’ that businesses use to promote themselves.

  • Some Rocky River businesses sent a message back to city hall.  They want free standing commercial signs allowed!

  • Tuesday January 16th, council started to bail themselves, out of their ‘political muscle blunder’.  Council and the administration talked of 'temporary signs' in Rocky River, though they are now prohibited.

  • If businesses can't use free standing commercial signs to promote their businesses in Rocky River.  They will go to another community that allows free standing commercial signs so they can promote their business.

  • People are moving out of Rocky River.  Elected Rocky River city government officials that lack leadership and vision - are giving Rocky River businesses good reason to move out of Rocky River as well.

  • My Solution?  (1.) More Freedom for businesses to conduct business in Rocky River.  (2.) Repeal 'prohibiting free standing commercial signs’ in Rocky River. (3.) Less Tax for Rocky River Businesses and Residents.  Let them keep more of their earnings.

  • To bring money and jobs to Rocky River.  City Government must create the proper ‘economic atmosphere’ in Rocky River to help the business community to be successful.  So the business community can make money and create jobs.   That’s Business 101.  That’s Leadership and Vision!

  1. ROCKY RIVER RAILROAD QUIET/SAFETY ZONE AND REGIONAL COMMUTER RAIL SERVICE - TO AID ROCKY RIVER’S ECONOMY.  IS SITTING ON THE BACK BURNER AT ROCKY RIVER CITY HALL!  -  I SAY, (1.) ‘SET AN IMMEDIATE CITY GOAL’ TO UTILIZE ROCKY RIVER’S MOST ‘VITAL ECONOMIC ASSET’ IT’S RAIL LINE (2.) AND IMPLEMENT THESE IMPORTANT ‘RAIL LINE ISSUES’ FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE CITY!

  • Tuesday January 16th, council discussed the ‘Rocky River quiet/safety zone’ and the ‘regional commuter rail service’.  Council showed little enthusiasm for these two (2) Rocky River rail line issues.  (2.) It appears to me, the Rocky River railroad quiet/safety zone and regional commuter rail service is now on the ‘back burner’.

  • For council and the administration to miss the importance of Rocky River’s rail line potential for a ‘regional commuter rail line service’.  Strongly suggests to me again, there is a lack of vision and leadership on council and the administration.

  • Commuter Rail Lines historically guarantee development, people, shoppers, prosperity, progress, money and yes, economic prosperity for Rocky River if it chooses to participate.  This rail line could make Rocky River a stop for a ‘regional commuter rail line service’ from Cleveland to Lorain.  Then maybe one day this rail line could go to Cedar Point and to the Lake Erie Islands.

  • My Solution?  (1.) Rocky River should take the lead on this regional commuter rail line service by supporting its establishment not only in Rocky River but in the communities that this proposed rail line will run through.  (2.) Next, jumpstart Rocky River’s Railroad Crossing Quiet/Safety Zone process.  Enlist the help of Federal, State and Local officials who can bring money to Rocky River to pay for the safety of our quiet/safety rail line zone.  That’s Common Sense 101!  That’s Leadership and Vision!

In Closing,

  • Apparently the present Rocky River city government’s form of ‘leadership and vision’, is to just sit, talk, form more committees, do more studies on city issues and exert more control of Rocky River.

  • If residents and businesses continue to support ‘The Status Quo’ the world will surely pass Rocky River by – and our city will be ‘economically pulled back’ even further.

Finally,

  • What Rocky River needs is a CEO, a Leader, a Visionary, a Person who sees and states clearly and distinctly ‘a goal’ to better Rocky River’s residents and businesses.

  • Not to dominate residents and businesses, but to serve them.

  • Then this CEO, this Leader, this Visionary, this Person will put ‘qualified people’ into place to reach that 'stated goal'.  He will also clean house That’s Leadership and Vision 101, My Friends.

Will it happen in Rocky River?  You Decide!
