"FRED SOKOL'S - CONTRACT WITH RESIDENTS" makes a prosperous, safer, compassionate and better Rocky River.

“I see where Rocky River is presently.  I also see where Rocky River should go and what it will take to get there."

Since 1993, I've talked to residents, learned their needs and ideas and crafted solutions to those needs.  I did this by attending council meetings, being involved in Rocky River citizen’s issues, leading city-wide elections and running for council-at-large and mayor in Rocky River.

My agenda answers Rocky River citizen's needs and creates a 'road map' for Rocky River's future.

My fellow Rocky River residents ... this is 'your agenda.'

Fred Sokol's - Contract With Residents

Since 1960 - Rocky River residents lived under ‘strong mayor rule’ that controls our money, city government and us.  Rocky River city government is our master.  Below is how we are going to break Rocky River city government's grip.

 I Support:

1.    CUT CITY INCOME TAX - FOR ALL ROCKY RIVER RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES In 2003 - $42,474,266.00 is Rocky River city government’s ‘Total Net Assets’.  $26,635,650.00 is Rocky River Waste Water Treatment Plant’s ‘Total Net Assets’.  $69,109,916.00 is the combined ‘Total Net Assets’.  YES! Rocky River city government can afford tax cuts.

2.    VOTER APPROVAL OF ZONING CHANGES IN ROCKY RIVER A major Rocky River Master Plan is now unfolding.  Residents must know and decide ‘zoning changes’ that affect their home, neighborhood – and throughout Rocky River.  This doesn’t include variances.

3.    LIMIT TAXES, SPENDING AND SURPLUS OF ROCKY RIVER CITY GOVERNMENT.  REFUND EXCESS 'SURPLUS MONEY' TO TAXPAYERS. Rocky River City Government will spend less taxpayers keep more.  No devil in the details here! (CLICK ON AND READ MORE)

4.   GUARANTEE JOBS FOR ROCKY RIVER RESIDENTS City Government will require contractors who work on 'city government funded projects' within the city - to hire Rocky River residents for 'a minimum' of 20% of the jobs.  In which the contract is - or above $100,000.

5.   PROTECT ROCKY RIVER CITIZEN’S RIGHTS - City Hall once considered a ‘criminal trespass law’ for almost anyone walking on a Rocky River Private or Public Lawn (like a city park) - without permission.  City Hall once considered restricting citizen speech at council meetings.

6.   'INDEPENDENT AUDIT WITH CITIZEN OVERSIGHT' YEARLY - from 1990 to 2005 a total of more than ‘half a billion dollars’ or ($555,557,352.99) showed in the City of Rocky River’s ‘proposed (spending) budgets'.  I will find out where every nickel and dime of the taxpayer’s actual money went - from 1990 to the present-and for every year after.

7.   EQUIP ROCKY RIVER FIRE AND POLICE New ‘around the clock’ fire substation in the Beach Cliff Area and Northern part of Rocky River.  Solve Rocky River Arson Fires.

8.   HELP NEEDY ROCKY RIVER RESIDENTS - WITH NEW 'COMPASSIONATE PROGRAMS' – There are many in need in Rocky River.  Yet afraid to ask for help.  We may know and want to help that someone.

9.   ESTABLISH CITIZEN SAFETY AND HEALTH BOARD to find and remove - safety and health hazards that threaten Rocky River residents.  Remove ‘waste site’ on Lake Road across from Bradstreet’s Landing

10. REQUIRE TOWN HALL MEETINGS IN WARD AND NEIGHBORHOODS so citizens can plan, decide and carry out our Rocky River future – not power elite!
